WE’RE ALL ADVENTURERS AT HEART
About Us
Why made to adventure?
We believe that we all crave adventure deep down. Anthropology, psychology, and neuroscience show us it’s part of our DNA. Risk-taking also offers enormous benefits – physically, mentally, and socially.
When Life Distracts Us
It’s easy to get sidetracked throughout our lives and start burying pieces of ourselves. We might push away a dream we once had or an activity we loved with all the distractions, stressors, and challenges life throws at us. This blog is here to inspire you to get back to your thing – or try something new and exciting for the first time ever.
Adventure is personal
Adventure will look different for everyone, but the whole point is to step out of our comfort zones and into a space where we can learn, grow, and be fully present.
As you embark on your own journey of becoming more adventurous, you may discover that you’re becoming more yourself, who you are deep down. Or, if you like, who God created you to be.
Adventure isn’t just about jumping off cliffs, diving out of planes, and traveling to the other side of the world. It encompasses all the steps we take to do the things that challenge our bodies and minds and push us to our limits. It’s experiencing new cultures, places, and activities – and the thrill and perspective it all brings.
Adventure is essential
We don’t believe adventure is optional in this life. Not if we really want to thrive and reach our greatest potential. It’s essential.
So here’s to getting out there and learning, growing, and becoming who you were made to be.
You were made to adventure. And along with that will come new opportunities, greater confidence, joy, freedom, and so much more.
Just imagine how much further you’ll go with all of that in your arsenal.
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
Helen Keller
Hello there! My name’s Micah Hartmann, and I’m the creator of Made to Adventure.
Just a little about me… I love writing, exploring, trail running, hiking, amazing coffee, quality time with people I love, and following Jesus. I live in beautiful Colorado Springs, where I get to watch the sunrise on Pikes Peak every single morning. It never gets old.
I believe that adventure leads us to a place where we can become more authentic versions of ourselves. It pushes us outside of our comfort zones and into a place where we can learn, grow, discover our truest potential, and live life to the fullest. It can also help us better love ourselves, our lives, and everyone we engage with along the way.
When I moved out to Colorado from Iowa, I realized there was a gap (more like gaping hole) between those who long to be more adventurous but don’t quite know where to start – and those who already are.
Now, that may seem obvious. But I experienced this myself and have met many friends who feel like getting into the activities they want to love can be intimidating and overwhelming. Especially when “learning” from someone who has done said activity since they were old enough to walk.
There seems to be a lack of truly beginner-friendly content out there that helps us move from where we are now to the next level, one step at a time. That’s where Made to Adventure comes in.
For anyone out there with a heart on fire for adventure – no matter where you live, your background, or your experience level – you’re welcome here. In fact, I made this blog specifically for YOU.
I can’t wait for you to discover a new activity or maybe even an entire lifestyle that you fall in love with. And then ignite the hearts of those around you to do the same.
Here are a couple of intro articles to get you started and totally jazzed to step into the adventurous life you’ve always wanted.
